I’m pretty positive that everyone has slept off in class at some point in their lives.
It’s 6:55 a.m., and I’m standing in the kitchen near the coffee maker. My inner tenth-grader walks in. The first thing she says to me is, “I hate morning classes.” I’m drained, as well as my pathological tiredness has made things harder. But, for a university student I go to bed extremely late, I’ve more than 20 submissions due and my light turns out at 4 in the morning.
Every night I lay in bed flinging my pillow around in irritation around 3 in the morning, trying to remain optimistic that I’ll be able to get a few hours of sleep before I have to get up. We’ve all been there.
So I’m guessing students my age are prone to dozing off in class.

It’s humiliating… However, after five minutes, your eyes begin to close again, and you’re back to battling to simply stay awake.
Unfortunately, sleeping in class is all too prevalent. Here’s how to avoid falling asleep in class so you can avoid these unpleasant experiences.
#1 Take A Seat In The First Row
Sitting at the front gives you the impression that the teacher is staring straight at you, even if they aren’t. You have everyone’s attention. This position not only allows you easier access to the board or projector, making it simpler to view the notes, but it also makes you feel forced to pay attention. You’ll be afraid of falling asleep since everyone will see you!

According to studies, chewing keeps your mind attentive. Gum chewing might help you stay awake. Why? Because it stimulates the brain’s specialized areas. Grab a stick of gum the next time you feel like falling asleep in class.

College is the best time to become hooked on coffee. Have you only recently awoken? Coffee is a must. Have you recently completed a class? Coffee is a must. Do you need to stall? ” Make a pot of coffee the night before and keep it next to your bed. Set your alarm clock for 20 minutes before you need to wake up.
“Chugg the coffee before hitting the snooze button for the first time,” advised Meghan Cassidy, a UF sophomore and genius. “If sitting and drinking don’t help you wake up sooner, you’ll be awake in 20 minutes.” There’s no better way to kick your coffee habit than to rely on it to get up and remain awake every morning.
Focus on both mental and physical stimulation to stay awake in class. After all, this is the university, and you’re paying a lot of money to learn in a classroom. Stay as alert as possible, even if it means engaging your hyperactive imagination or merely chewing on a pencil.
