Nothing is more annoying than a sudden breakout. A pimple, like an ex, can appear at any moment and in any place. Most of us have had to deal with facial breakouts, but have you ever wondered how to get rid of neck acne?

Breakouts aren’t just on the face; they’re also on your neck and shoulders! If you’ve ever had pimples, you can understand this even more.

The neck is one of the most ignored parts of the skin, despite the fact that it suffers from many of the same problems as the face. Breakouts on the neck, on the other hand, might be more difficult to conceal.

Neck acne is just as curable like any other form of the outbreak.

We’ve addressed the topic of neck acne, including what it is and what causes it, in the sections below. We’ve also looked at the many treatment options for neck acne.

What Causes Neck Acne?

A blocked pore is the source of acne. Dead skin cells, sebum (a natural oil generated by the body to keep skin from drying up), and P. acnes bacteria can block pores.

If your skin cells are congested, acne may form on your neck. The following are some of the possible reasons:

  • Not consistently cleaning your neck, particularly after sweating
  • Using a product that may have caused your skin to become oily, such  a moisturizer, foundation, sunscreen, or even a hair treatment
  • Rubbing your neck with your shirt or equipment
  • Having hair that grazes your neck, especially unwashed hair
  • Soiled clothing coming into contact with the neck
  • Not exfoliating the neck
  • Necklaces and other jewelry that may come into touch with the neck, particularly those made of plastics, cheap or fake metals, and other subpar materials
  • Synthetic and scratchy garment materials that come in contact with the neck
  • Non-breathable fabrics, such as polyester and rayon

Acne can be caused by a variety of factors, including hormonal changes, stress, diet, drugs, or family history.

How to Get Rid of Neck Acne?

There is no one-size-fits-all treatment for neck acne because it can range from minor to severe. Your best option is to consult a doctor to figure out what kind of acne you have and how to cure it.

Over-the-counter (OTC) acne medications, prescription acne treatments, and lifestyle modifications are all common treatments for neck acne.

1. Over the counter (OTC) Medication

Over-the-counter remedies may be your first line of defense if your acne outbreaks are minor and infrequent.

NOTE: These treatment details are for information purposes only. Do not follow any of the below treatments without a doctor’s consultation.

Spot treatments and skincare products with acne-fighting chemicals can help speed up the healing process and avoid the recurrence of aggressive outbreaks. These are some of them:

  • Benzoyl peroxide destroys acne-causing germs while also reducing pimple swelling.
  • Salicylic acid causes your skin to dry out and peel.
  • Sulfur attacks germs and unclogs pores. Because sulphur is used in spot treatments and may be kept on the skin, it may be helpful in curing a single pimple.

These over-the-counter treatments can be used in conjunction with other anti-aging products like retinol and alpha-hydroxy acids. These items aren’t intended to treat acne, but they can help acne medications function more effectively.

2. Prescription Treatments

While moderate kinds of neck acne, such as whiteheads and blackheads, usually react nicely to over-the-counter medications, severe breakouts may necessitate something more powerful.

Prescription acne treatments frequently include the same active components as over-the-counter acne treatments but in greater quantities. Some acne remedies may only be obtained with a doctor’s prescription.

  • Tretinoin: Tretinoin is a topical retinoid that helps prevent dead cells from blocking pores by increasing the rate of cell turnover in the skin.
  • Isotretinoin: Isotretinoin, an oral medicine used to treat severe acne such as cystic acne, works best after several months of regular treatment.
  • Hormonal birth control: Hormonal birth control may be an effective treatment for hormonal neck acne.

This medication helps to equal out sebum secretion by balancing the body’s hormone production by lowering androgen levels.

Keep in mind that, treatment for acne must be consulted by a dermatologist or your family doctor. We never recommend any treatment products without doctors’ prescription. All the information provided is for your & guidance knowledge only.

Bottom Line:

Acne can appear on any region of the body, although it is most commonly found on the face. Even if you don’t have any acne outbreaks on your face, you may still be prone to neck acne.

The skin on the neck is sometimes disregarded when it comes to skincare, but it requires the same level of attention and care as the skin on the face to be healthy and acne-free.

Consult your doctor if your acne is bothering you and triggering low self-esteem or sadness.
